Sustainability driving design

Back in 2008, the Besam SW100 swing door operator was the first ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems product to have environmental sustainability considerations driving every aspect of its design. What was novel then is standard practice now.

Product development

During product development, the addition of a VA/VE (Value Analysis – Value Engineering) reduces the amount of energy and raw materials needed for manufacturing. Besam manufactures energy-efficient solutions in geographically smart and central locations to reduce transport emissions. All Besam products ship in recyclable packaging that can easily be disposed and requires no costly trip to a special facility.

Installation and re-cycling

Once installed, Besam products help customers reduce energy consumption by insuring that their doors are open only when in use, preventing heated or cooled air from migrating. Regular Besam service ensures longer product life, which further lessens environmental impact by keeping non-recyclable materials out of landfills for as long as possible.
