Besam becomes part of Chinese architectural history
Besam is supplying 208 automatic sliding door entrances for the new home of the state broadcasting service China Central Television (CCTV).
The graceful “sculpture-style” building is considered a breakthrough in architectural design that is expected to become a focal point of the Beijing skyline. The 550,00 square-meter CCTV headquarters building is attracting wide-spread interest for its innovative design by Dutch architect Rem Koolhaas, and is best described as a continuous loop of five vertical and horizontal sections, rather than a traditional tower. Besam was one of four ASSA ABLOY Group companies selected as suppliers for the landmark project.

Irene Yip, ASSA ABLOY Hong Kong’s general manager says it took a combination of close cooperation and commitment throughout the Group to secure the deal.
“From the outset of this project, we worked closely with the jury and architect to specify the customer’s requirements. We were able to secure the project by offering user-friendly, systematic solutions, quality products and technical know how.” Irene says.
Construction is expected to be complete in June of this year.
